I’m Mary Pelling, Founder and Director of Bedrock Business Support.
For more than 40 years, I have worked close to the heart of how businesses run: the decisions, details, conversations, pressure points and quiet blocks that stop progress from flowing.

Here’s what I noticed:
Decisions always come
back to one person
Great people are working around broken systems
Processes exist but
nobody follows them
Teams wait because responsibilities aren’t clear
Bedrock exists because good businesses should not have to wait until something goes seriously wrong before getting the right operational support.
Over the years, I’ve seen many capable business owners carry pressures they shouldn’t have to carry alone. I believe good operations should give people more confidence… not more complexity.
Trust grows when someone understands both the practical reality of running a business and the human weight behind it.
I have supported leaders, coordinated people and projects, solved problems quietly, and kept things moving when the pressure was high.
Operations aren’t theory. They are something people live with every day.
When I work with a business owner, I listen first. I help make sense of what may have felt messy, frustrating or difficult to explain.
From Support Role to Strategic Adviser
My career began in roles often described as “just admin” – PA, Executive Assistant, Office Manager, Training Coordinator, Project Administrator and Events Manager.
But there is no “just” about work that keeps a business moving.
Those roles showed me where information gets stuck, decisions wait, people need clarity, and stronger foundations could prevent stress later.
Over time, leaders trusted me to see what was not working, why it mattered and what needed to change.
Bedrock was built on that experience: practical judgement, calm thinking and the belief that the right question, asked at the right time, can change a business.
“Good operations should give people more confidence… not more complexity.”

How I Work
I do not believe in walking into a business with a ready-made answer.
Every business has its own history, people, pressures and habits. Before anything can improve, those things need to be understood. That is why my work begins with listening, better questions and finding the bottleneck quietly limiting progress.
The aim is simple: bring clarity, strengthen foundations and help the business feel more confident, with less need for constant intervention.
What I Want Clients to Feel
The best outcomes are not just operational.
They are personal.
I want clients to feel clearer about what is happening, more confident in their team, systems, information and decisions, and able to step back without feeling they are losing control of the business they have built.
Success for me is not a client needing me forever. It is leaving behind a business that feels stronger, calmer and more capable than before.
Who I Work Best With
I work best with business owners who care deeply about what they have built, value honest and thoughtful conversations, and are open to practical clarity, respectful challenge and stronger foundations that help the business keep moving without everything coming back to them.
If that sounds like the support you need, Bedrock may be the right place to start.
Let’s Talk It Through
If your business feels harder to run than it should, let’s talk it through. The first step is not having all the answers. It is asking the right questions.

“The right question, asked at the right time,
can change a business.”
